Robin Williams, Liev Schreiber, James Marsden, and more appear as the presidents Cecil serves and comes to know well. Aaron Eckhart and Gerard Butler are back as President Benjamin Asher and his butt-kicking Secret Service Agent Mike Banning in London Has Fallen, the 2016 sequel to 2013’s Olympus Is Fallen. Watched and loved the action comedy Free Guy? You don’t have to wait long for another collaboration between director Shawn Levy and star Ryan Reynolds. The Adam Project is out now and features a twisty time-travel narrative in which Reynolds’ character teams up with his younger self (Walker Scobell) to save his present. Bonus for rom-com fans: Adam’s parents are played by Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo, who memorably starred in another time-bending movie—2004’s 13 Going on 30. Anyone into action flicks knows that Liam Neeson has a very particular set of skills that make him one of the biggest stars of the genre. Hypnotic stars horror mainstay Kate Seigel as Jenn, a new patient of the dangerously charismatic Dr. Meade (Jason Mara). When Jenn starts losing chunks of time, she begins to question what exactly Dr. Meade may be compelling her to do in her hypnotized state. From the filmmaker behind Once, Begin Again is a movie that looks like a romantic comedy but is really about the joy of making art. It stars Keira Knightley as a budding singer-songwriter who has the chance to step out of her rock star boyfriend’s (Adam Levine) shadow after they split. In Netflix’s new fantasy film Nightbooks, Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter takes a villainous turn as Natacha, a witch who kidnaps a young horror fan named Alex (Winslow Fegley). She demands that he pen a new terrifying tale for her every night, with the alternative being a prospect that may be a bit too scary for pint-sized viewers. Then again, it’s based on the 2018 book of the same name, which was also geared towards kids, so perhaps your brave little ones can handle it. A father (Adrian Titieni) takes it upon himself to use his intelligence training and contacts to track down his son when he goes missing in a remote and unforgiving landscape in this 2021 Romanian/Swedish drama. In their review, The Hollywood Reporter says that The Father Who Moves Mountains “[veers] from a straightforward rescue drama to an inner journey testing the courage and determination of all concerned.” Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington spar—as a CIA interrogator and an alleged agency traitor, respectively—in this 2012 action flick. When the safe house where Washington’s character is being questioned is attacked, the two go on the run together. Is there more to the case than Reynolds’ Agent Weston was told? You can queue this up this weekend to find out. Hiking can be a dangerous enough endeavor without an anonymous assassin who’s out to kill you. In this German thriller, five male friends—all average guys—head out together for some exercise and bonding but find themselves on the run when it appears that they’re being targeted. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg regarding what’s wrong on the island of the title—there are many more sinister secrets to uncover. Elizabeth Banks and James Marsden lead the 2014 comedy Walk of Shame, in which a newscaster runs into all kinds of shenanigans and hijinks trying to make it home after a one-night stand. Tenet star and Denzel Washington’s son, John David Washington, stars in this Netflix original thriller. He plays an American tourist in Greece, who ends up on the run from some unsavory characters after an accident that kills his girlfriend. Why? That answer is slowly revealed as he tries to make it to safety in the form of the American Embassy. It’s time for Netflix to bring this teen-focused rom-com trilogy to an end. Joey King reprises her role of Elle, who’s (still) caught between her best friend (Joel Courtney) and her reformed bad-boy boyfriend (Jacob Elordi). In this final installment, she has to decide which college—and therefore which man in her life—she’s choosing. Like your documentaries with a lot of left turns and “a-ha!” moments? Then you have to add Misha and the Wolves to your queue. The film revolves around Misha Defonseca, whose account of surviving the Holocaust involves taking shelter with a pack of wolves and led to a celebrated memoir and movie deal. But when her publisher became suspicious of her claims, many of them didn’t hold up to that scrutiny. And that’s only the beginning of the story. The universe is called Tales of Arcadia and is about the fantasy creatures living right under the nose of the regular human citizens of a small town. Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans serves as the feature-length finale. Yep, that’s right: all five Twilight movies are now right at every Netflix subscriber’s fingertips.
